The Nagasaki Beer Train

A special summer delight on the Nagasaki street cars: an ice-cold beer! Explore Kyushu with your JR Pass or JR Kyushu Pass.
Nagasaki is most well-known for its tragic World War II history, but this vibrant city is filled with Japanese and foreign culture.
If you’re stopping by Nagasaki as you travel around the southern island of Kyushu, this new train is a great way to live it up like a local.
Running daily from July 3rd to September 19th (except Sundays and holidays), this train is part of Nagasaki city’s street car system.
This special car leaves at 7 pm on the dot from Shokakuji-shita Station and runs to Urakami Terminus, where there is a toilet break for passengers. From there, it turns around and arrives back at Shokakuji-shita at 8:30 pm.
What’s so special about this train? Why, it’s a moving bar car! For 90 minutes, join Japanese businessmen on their way home for some merrymaking, with an all-you-can-drink beer and whisky course (snacks provided, of course).
During the day, the street car system is the best way to get around Nagasaki city. It will take you past the peace park, Chinatown, and ever Glover Gardens.
