Ikebukuro Nigo

This house is situated in a maze of lovely, quiet little alleyways close to Meiji Dori, one of the longest and most well-known streets in Tokyo. You will be surprised by how tranquil and charming this house is while only a few minutes away by bus and 15 minutes walk from the bustling center of Ikebukuro.

Description of the house

Ikebukuro Nigo was designed by a well known architect in Tokyo, and from inside to outside, this small villa is a great place to stay. The wooden lattice on the outside of the house gives the property a luxurious facade. The space consists of a bedroom with two single beds, a dining room/kitchen, a bathroom, and small outdoor garden space with a touch of Zen spirit.

The neighborhood

The proximity to Ikebukuro Station will allow you to make the most of your trip to Tokyo without wasting any time on the transportation system, and you will find everything you need here, for example the famous electronic store, Bic Camera, for great shopping.

Location of the house

Kami-Ikebukuro

The district of Kami-Ikebukuro is located in the North (Kita in Japanese) of the large Ikebukuro station, approximately 10 minutes away by foot (and 3 minutes by taxi). As in the city of Tokyo, as soon as you exit the main roads, you will find the calm of the district.

  • Pluses: Quick access to Tokyo's major centres (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, Akihabara...). A handy district for accessing the shops (Maruetsu Supermarket, Family Mart Konbini, bento sellers...). A district that is quiet at night and in the daytime, as soon as you move away from the Meiji Dori.
  • Minuses: Not many traditional restaurants nearby. The Meji Dori and its pavements are sometimes a little bit congested to access the large Ikebukuro station.
  • Shops: Maruetsu Supermarket, open 24/24 - Family Mart Konbinis and Seven Eleven (where money withdrawal with a foreign credit card is available) - Bento shops - Dry-cleaning stores
  • Transports: From Ikebukuro station : The JR Yamanote Line, to reach the major centres of Tokyo - The Marunouchi and Yurakucho metro lines allow you to quickly reach the centre of Tokyo
  • Attractions: The Sunshine centre, the first great urban complex built at the end of the 1970s, home to a magnificent aquarium (reopening scheduled for summer 2011) and an open-air terrace overlooking Tokyo on the 60th floor. The first and largest Bic Camera store, the largest range of video-hifi in Japan. The Amlux store, one of the largest Toyota show-rooms in Japan
